Presentation

The Commission for Rural Communities was established in April 2005 and became an independent body on October 1st, 2006.

It aims at providing well-informed, independent advice to government and ensures that policies reflect the real needs of people living and working in rural England, with a particular focus on tackling disadvantage.

The Commission for Rural Communities defines itself as the national advocate for rural communities and wishes to be recognized as such by the politicians. Its main actions are therefore pointed at the British government.
