The Environmental Partnership is a consortium of six foundations in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, which are focused on mobilizing the people of the region to improve their environment, their local communities and societies. Since their creation in 1991, the Environmental Partnership foundations have supported more than 5,000 projects and are currently the most significant private source of funding for community-based environmental initiatives in the region.
The word "partnership" describes the role that the Environmental Partnership plays in building bridges of cooperation between people and organizations, across sectors and national borders to build civil societies and sustainable communities in Central and Eastern Europe.

Right to Know and Advocacy: the Environmental Partnership foundations have been spearheading efforts to promote access to information regarding environmental issues“Energy for schools” projects: schools have some of the greatest potential for energy savings in Central Europe. They are also a natural place to start raising awareness of energy conservation issues. School children not only represent the next generation, but also open to learn and take home what they heard to parents, relatives, neighbours, and friends. Moreover many schools in the region, particularly those in rural villages and small towns, still serve as the centre of their community. Initiatives focused around these schools can bring together, not only teachers, children and their parents, but also local government and business leaders, thus strengthening local cooperation and partnership. |
