Presentation

Created in 1971, the federation groups together all the regional natural Parks (45 in 6/5/08), regional councils and main institutional partners. It is the head of network to contribute to the sustainable development and support the national policy of the regional nature Parks. In this objective, it represents, defends the interests of Parks, insures a mission of communication and constitutes a place of exchange, training and impulse on subjects with stakes.
The regional nature Parks represent 13 % of the national territory (approximately 3700 municipalities (Communes) and constitute natural spaces, rich in their exceptional heritage. 13 % of the territories of Park are in sites " Natura on 2000 ".
They concentrate 11 % of the National Nature reserves, 1/3 of the prefectorial orders of protection of French Biotope, 10 of 24 recognized wet zones internationally (sites RAMSAR) and 5 of 7 Reserves of French Biospheres.
These territories are also places of life and work because they concentrate approximately 320 000 companies belonging to all the sectors and representing 7 % of the French economic fabric and 730 000 employees.

Themes activities

The Federation supports the Parks on their 5 missions:

  • protect the heritage;
  • contribute to land settlement;
  • contribute to the economic, social and cultural development and to the quality of life
  • insure the education and the information of the public;
  • realize experimental or exemplary actions in these domains and contribute to research programs

Among the French Parks the most engaged on European cooperation are :
Avesnois, Camargue, Chartreuse, Caps et marais d’Opale, Corse, Grands Causses, Haut Jura, Livradois-Forez, Millevaches en Limousin, Périgord-Limousin, Queyras, Scarpe-Escaut, Vercors, Volcans d’Auvergne

      Actions driven by the Federation within the network of Parks:

      • Monitoring national partnerships (Chambers of agriculture, Ministries, partner networks)
      • Organization of training courses, exchange and forward-looking reflections on subjects with stakes for the network (management of the space, valorisation of products in link with the territory, development of the short circuits)
      • Support for the experiment on experimental Parks and network with research organizations and experts (management of flowery meadows, pastoral managing..)
      • Capitalization of experiences, method and transfer to other (resource centre)

      • Program of support for agritourism and creation of unspecialized roads
      • Implementation of territorial contracts of exploitation
      • Attribution of the mark “Park” on farm produces in logics of durable practices anchored on territory

      • Follow the agreements stemming from the charter signed with the Ministry of Education
      • Impulse experimentation and conceive educational tools
      • Capitalize and formalize the collective experiences of the network in the form of methodological and strategic documents
      • Valorise young people works
      • Valorise the educational action of Parks
      Projects/Wishes:

      The Federation of Parks is interested to develop an European partnership on the specific subject of “diaries 21” of schools and regional authorities.

      Europeans partnerships:

      The Federation of the regional nature Parks has no European partnership at national level on this subject, however 4 cross-border Parks develop partnerships with their Belgian and German counterparts.

      Actions led by the Federation within the network of Parks:

      • Piloting national partnerships (Chambers of Commerce and industry, Ministries, partner networks)
      • Organization of training courses, exchange, inter-park operations and of forward-looking reflections on subjects with stakes for the network (durable management of activity zones, environmental management of companies, Parks Eco Trophies, Development of new forms of companies)
      • Support experimentation on experimental Parks and networking with bodies of research and experts on these subjects
      • Initiate capitalization of experiments, method and transfer to other (resource centre, methodological tools such as web sites, publishing)

      Types of actions led on Parks:

      • Insertion work sessions
      • Development of the European charter of the durable tourism
      • Initiatives of environmental management of zones of activities, communities and companies
      • Launching Eco Trophies (competition of companies)
      • Valorisation of craft activities know-how by the opening the sites to the public

      The Federation of Parks is interested to develop an European partnership on the services to people and on the creation of sector of eco-building
